Okay this is my favorite taqueria in town- the shrimp burrito and shrimp tacos are to die for and my partner loves their chavelas and we regularly have their pre made Chavela mix at home in our fridge. The only reason I'm not giving full 5 stars is they only have chips about 1/3 of the time (they're constantly running out) and I'm not in love with any of their salsas. They treat customers really well and are friendly and helpful whether you're speaking español or English. The bathroom is 1 star.

I've been eating here for years. The food is always good! The chavelas are super delicious and the family that runs it are very very nice people! If I had to recommend only one dish the seafood mariscada fajitas are amazing!!! Eat here!

So there's a (what I think) a cool back story to this review but if you don't have time...here's the skinny. Authentic as you're gonna get in Watsonville...period.
I grew up here, so many changes. This was a A&W in the sixties and seventies then a Arbys for a few year's. The original is about 2 or 3 miles south down Freedom Blvd. That one used to be Georgia's Hamburger Heaven since before I can remember. But I remember eating at Georgia's till well after high school and when I worked night crew for a grocery store in town we ate there almost every morning. When they moved, Mi Tierra opened and we ate breakfast there. Got to know the young owner back in the day.
Fast forward to a few days ago and 30yrs. Having a pretty good lingua burrito with my wife and the owner walks in the .door. We lock eyes and he waves to me from the other end of the room, he said something in Spanish ending in amigo.
Last words...sweet...still in business, still a friend. -

Friend told us about the restaurant. Food was cold (cheese not melted in the enchiladas), chips stale. Maybe we hit it on a bad night.
